I like the Blackberry Headset – it sounds great, the volume is good and it’s pretty durable. I replaced my original because it got caught in a seatbelt and when I exited my car it destroyed the cord at the jack. Frayed copper wires are pretty.

Anyway – down sides: The earpieces are a little huge… also, the foam pads get lost in a matter of minutes (ok because they’re smaller without them).

The mic on the headset is WAAAY better than the Curve internal mic – I know because people often ask me if I got a new phone when I use the headset – they say it sounds much warmer and clearer.

  2. I wanted an inexpensive mono earbud for handsfree phone calls. Although labeled for the RIM Blackberry 9000, this headset uses the same 3.5mm 3-ring + tip jack as my Nokia 5310. I’d see if it would work for the Nokia. Short answer, it doesn’t. It produces a message on the display, indicating that it is trying to invoke an unsupported function.

The earbuds are comfortable, but large, and have no replaceable foam covers. The pack arrived in a press-locked plastic bag, with the product information printed on a stick-on computer label. I’ll probably rewire it myself, since it was certainly inexpensive enough to use for an experiment. Anyone considering doing something similar should know that the wires are thinner than the Nokia’s (about 1/2 the diameter), so it will be a delicate operation to work with them. I’m going to see if I can disconnect the switching feature, then cut off one earbud and use the remaining one.

Sorry that this is the only review so far, since in fairness to the manufacturer, it should be reviewed by someone who has a Blackberry. However, I thought it was a decent product at a fair price.
